There does exist a special place
Where Sand Castles last forever
and Rainbows never fade away

 

 

Remember . . .
 

Running barefoot on the lawn
Catching a firefly, letting it go
Making angels in the snow

Wishing on a shining star
Sharing secrets with a friend
Wanting a day to never end

Playing a game of hide-and-seek
Losing track of the time
Coloring inside the lines

Being silly as a goose
Swinging fast and very high
Seeing your toes touch the sky

Climbing up a big strong tree
Wondering how far you'll see
Dressing up on Halloween

Jumping in puddles on the way home
Changing into warm, dry clothes
Pinching a clown's big red nose

Getting up early to watch cartoons
Giggling, shhhh! Not too loud
Looking for pictures in the clouds

 

 

I'm an adult, but I refuse
To follow every grownup rule
Act my age? What's that mean?
To leave behind the child in me?

I love stories of unicorns and sprites
With magical dragons, elves and knights
Am I supposed to give that up
Just to prove that I've grown up?

If I still like to laugh and play
Or daydream for an hour each day
Don't say "Grow up and act your age"
One's spirit can't soar inside a cage

Be 'that' grown up?  I disagree
Before I let that happen to me
I'll give my notice, pack my things
And fly away on a dragon's wing

Try and stop me
(see if I care)
You won't catch me
(try if you dare)
State your objections
(if you must)
But be quick - -
Oops! Poof!
(in a cloud of magic dust)
