Angels ~ Spirits ~ Guides

Throughout history, stories of genius loci have been told.
They are most commonly known as Guardian Spirits, Angels,
Faeries, Cherubs, Guides, Messingers, Helpers and Protectors.

Some of these accountings are in written form, while
others have been handed down from one generation to the
next in verbal story form. Although these beings are known
by different names and the stories vary depending on the
culture, there is one common thread; the existence of Angels.
I believe in these Angel Spirit Guides. Perhaps you do too.

Silently, one by one,
in the infinite meadows of heaven,
Blossomed the lovely stars,
the forget-me-nots of angels.

-- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

God is the Lord of humans, of angels.. and of elves.

-- John Ronald Reuel Tolkien

The finite mind does not require us
to grasp the infinitude of truth,
but only to go forward from light to light.

-- Peter Bayne

There's not the smallest orb which thou behold'st
But in this motion like an angel sings,
Still quiring to the young-eyed cherubins
Such Harmony is in immortal souls;

-- William Shakespeare

It was supposed that lost spirits were roving about
everywhere in the invisible air, waiting for children to
find them if they searched long and patiently enough...
[The spirit] sang its spiritual song for the child to memorize
and use when calling upon the spirit guardian as an adult.

-- Mourning Dove [Christine Quintasket] (1888-1936) Salish

Whether you turn to the right or to the left,
Your ears will hear a voice behind you saying:
"This is the way; walk in it."

-- Isaiah 30:21

Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage;
Minds innocent and quiet take
That for an hermitage;
If I have freedom in my love
And in my soul am free,
Angels alone that soar above
Enjoy such liberty.

-- Richard Lovelace

Yea--if ye remain firm and act aright, even if
The enemy should rush here on you in hot haste,
Your Lord would help you
With five thousand angels
Making a terrific onslaught.

-- Koran -s. iii.125 (Sacred writings of Islam)

Hush! my dear,
be still and slumber
Holy Angels guard thy bed!
Heavenly blessings without number
Gently falling on thy head.

-- Isaac Watts

And out of darkness came the hands,
That reach through nature, molding men.

-- Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Any man who does not believe in
miracles, is not a realist.

-- David Ben-Gurion

And since this life our nonage is,
and wee in Wardship to thine Angels bee,
Native in heavens faire Palaces, . . .
So let me study, that mine actions bee,
Worthy their sight, though blind in how they see.

-- John Donne (The Angels, vii)
